Employed by Kaman Instruments in Austin; Sperry Univac 1969-1996; and US Department of State 1997-2009. Parishioner of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Missouri City since 1970. Member of KJT Fraternal Czech Organization at Holy Family Church; Holy Family Church Men’s Club; Bazaar Bingo Chairman; Collection Counter Committee; National Park Conservation Association; Texas Polio Survivor’s Association.
David loved the outdoors along with gardening, farming, ranching and fishing. David loved going to church picnics and dances to spend time visiting with old friends and acquaintances. He particularly enjoyed listening and dancing to polka music and 50s-60s music of the “Red Ravens” and the reunited “Moods”. David was fond of old cars and purchased a 1957 Chevy painted “matador red”. He took great pride in taking it to car shows and hanging out with fellow car enthusiasts.
David grew up on a farm in Shiner, Texas. He always looked forward to going to the country on weekends and spending time enjoying the outdoors, whether it be riding the tractor, fishing, tending the cattle or just enjoying nature’s beauty.
In 2011, David and Beverly were blessed with their first grandchild. David’s face would just light up when in the presence of his precious one year old granddaughter Anna. He really enjoyed playing with her and she brought him so much joy.
David and Beverly really enjoyed traveling and took the opportunity to do so all throughout their marriage. When their sons, Timothy and Matthew were young, the adventures included enjoyable road trips to national parks. Later, David and Beverly vacationed in Hawaii, Alaska, Europe and Israel.
David and Beverly celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary the week prior to David’s passing. David and Beverly had the opportunity of renewing the wedding vows in Cana in Galilee on their Pilgrimage to the Holy Land. David and Beverly had just returned from their Pilgrimage to the Holy Land one week prior to David’s diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. It is as God was preparing them both for what David was about to encounter.
The pancreatic cancer, despite the attempts of chemotherapy, continued to grow to where there were no longer options to try. With the occurrence of a stroke, two of his favorite past times were taken away from him with now limited use of his hands. He was very frustrated by not being able to pick the guitar and spend time on the computer. David grew weaker and weaker with the passing of the days. In only six short months since the diagnosis, David passed peacefully at home while Beverly, his loving wife, was at his side. Deacon Abner reminds us that as St. Paul said, "he fought the good fight, kept the faith and has finished his course”.
In lieu of flowers, donations in David's memory may be made to the "One Faith, One Family" Building Fund @ Holy Family Catholic Church, 1510 Fifth St., Missouri City, TX 77489.
