Our deepest condolences to The Husband's Family. We accompany them in their pain on the loss of this great man. David meant a lot to so many people and it was such a devastating blow to hear about his passing. We were fortunate enough and grateful to have known/worked with David for 15 years at HISD. He was a great manager but he was also a close and dear friend who left us with so much knowledge, wisdom and so many lovely memories. You will never be forgotten and we will miss you so much David Husbands. May God have you in his holy glory, Rest In Peace

David  was a very thoughtful and kind person. Always the gentleman and  a ,”gentle” , man. My fondness and lasting memory of him was my first Christmas here in Houston, he gave me an  original Ford Motor Company socket wrench.  Not any old wrench but a Ford  socket. He knew I was from Detroit and many  of my family members worked at Ford. He said, “I wanted to give you something to remind you of home. I have the wrench on my desk  and  now I have a cherished memory of him.

Just so you know David, Margaret was in my office cleaning off the brown file cabinet that Monday and as I was telling her dont worry about it I can clean it off, she said I'm not cleaning it for you its for David to eat his lunch on because she saw you trying to eat on the corner of the cabinet because it was a mess...lol...and wanted to make sure you had more room.  Thank you for being patient with us all and the disagreements, all the times I quit in your office, the encouragement to do better, the laughter the stories being a mentor to us all and more importantly sharing your friendship with me. I will miss you .....

Worked with Chef David 17 yrs ago at HISD.
I only worked there for a couple years. But I would see Chef at all the food shows, trainings and conferences over the years. We would always have a good conversation. Can't remember him without a Big smile and a Postive attitude. He had that Passion to help feed the Future generation. He was a Good person. May God Bless his Family and Friends in this trying time. Remember the great times that you got to share in his much to short life.

Sending my condolences to the entire family. David was a great mentor, friend, and leader among his extended family within HISD.  I am very grateful to have worked along side him for many years. I gained a great amount of knowledge from David, he had the answer to everything and was so intelligent. He had the biggest heart and would always strive to go above and beyond, for each school’s request and to help the community in any way possible. “No” was not a word in his vocabulary, there was always a way to make something a possibility, Nothing stood in his way. A great example would be during the start of COVID,  he showed great empathy and compassion to find ways to help, in such an uncertain time. He spoke so often & highly of his family, and loved to show us pictures of his daughter Lily and her achievements.  
His character was strong, yet kind, and his 
smile lit up the room. He will be greatly missed, may he rest in Heaven.

I will always remember his kindness and generosity. I can truly say he always had a smile on his face and kind words to say, I can’t remember a time when I asked him something and he said, no. Matthew 5:7A says “God blesses those who are merciful,”. To the family, all of you are in my prayers in this time of sorrow.

To the family in which he loved dearly you are in my prayers,  Mr.David will be greatly missed , he always went out of his way for everyone,  he was kind hearted and he would put everyone before himself ,the scripture says  Love is patient and kind love does not envy or boast  Matthew 7;12, he had a lot of love and patience,  he told me one time Ms.Guillory I don't have enough of bread to lend out and five minutes later he would send a message have a driver to come pick it up, he would always find and make a way, may the family find peace in  knowing God picked a beautiful flower to call home. My prayers and thoughts go out to his family.  I enjoyed working with David at H.I.S.D some years back, he was always so helpful and kind.  You will truly be missed.

Sending heartfelt condolences to his wife and family.  I worked with David some years ago at HISD.  He was such a mild mannered man and always smiling.

There are no words to express just how special David was and how much he was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was such a sweet spirited person with an infectious smile and generous heart. Our great loss is heaven’s gain. Cherished memories of his impeccable character will live on in our hearts. He will be truly missed.  My sincere condolences to his loving family. Earth has no sorrows that heaven cannot heal.







Wow! It’s hard to put in words how much l, along with our colleagues, will miss working with Chef Husbands. He was some kind of special. The word “no” wasn’t a part of his vocabulary. He always was willing to help out and find a way to serve our students! 

He had a servant’s heart with an undoubtably desire to serve others; both within HISD and the communities  we serve and beyond!  

Every time l saw Chef Husbands, he had a smile on his face that would light up the room. He always made me feel as if anything that l needed to be able to feed my students, he would make a way to get it done! He was such an amazing man!!! He was so special! Heaven has gained a special soul! 

I am so sorry for you’re loss. I worked with David at the great outdoors golf course in Florida. I was on a work experience programme from England. David made me feel like I was at home rather than thousands of miles away. We had many great times from watching bands to fishing on the beach at coco beach. He will be missed by all. Xx

So sorry for your lost and David will be missed dearly. Great person, so happy I had the opportunity to have worked with him for the last 15 yrs.

David was beautiful person , not only that he was the best Chef in Houston Independent School District, Always willing to assist the Bakery Team. I will always remember his smile. The family is in my prayers.    Sincerely Bessie Conway 

I first met David when I took over as executive chef of HISD for Aramark.  I knew right away he would be my right hand man and we hit it off.  I was fortunate to have David as a close friend.  Although it was hard to get him to hang out with me, when we did we always had a great time.  David was blessed with a good and happy nature.  Always ready with a smile, everyone liked , if not loved, David.  His death will leave a massive hole in HISD food services.   The loss of his knowledge of the operation is irreplaceable.  

To his wife and daughter, I'm truly sorry for your loss.  May you remember the happy times in the future
