Buddy is survived in death by his wife Nell Hopson, Son Craig Hopson, daughter Sheryl Schuldt, grandsons Cody Schuldt, Justin Hopson, Blake Hopson, Tyler Hopson and two Great Grandkids Lincoln and Presleigh Hopson.
Buddy is preceded in death by his Parents, his brothers William David Hopson, James Stuart Hopson, and sisters Ida Laura Hopson and Lillian Russell Hopson.
Buddy grew up in Sinton and attended Sinton High School where he played football. He later graduated from The University of Texas at Austin and received his Bachelor of Science degree
He also graduated from The University of Houston with a master’s in administrative education. Buddy met Nell while attending The University of Texas and they were married at that time. Buddy and Nell were happily married over 60 years! Buddy was a very influential parent and role model for his two children Craig and Sheryl and his 4 grandsons..
Buddy began working for Sweeny ISD as a coach and then Fort Bend ISD where he was head varsity football coach and teacher at Dulles High School. He was Athletic Director until retiring in 1993. Buddy was very influential for many former players, students and coaches during his 30 years with Fort Bend ISD. After retiring, the new Field House at Hightower High School in Missouri City was named Buddy Hopson Fieldhouse in his honor. Buddy was an avid deer hunter for many years and, of course, a huge Texas Longhorn football fan. Buddy continued to enjoy going to coaching school every year even after retiring to see former coaches and friends that he enjoyed being around as much as he could. Buddy also enjoyed spending much of his time with his grandsons doing anything he could to spoil them as well as attending all their events.
