Jean was born to Paul and Louise Boaz Henderson on November 26, 1924 near Lindale, Texas. She graduated from Sabine High School in 1942, and married Oscar Vernon Stuckey on November 1, 1943.
Jean’s passion was her family. She loved her husband and her two sons. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren and she doted on the great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting and knitting. All her family members were recipients of gifts that came from her kitchen, sewing machine and knitting needles. She was an industrious homemaker who was never too busy to cook, sew, nurse, babysit, drive, or style hair for others.
Her Christian faith was manifest in her loving service not only to family, but also to God and neighbor. She was active in the Presbyterian Church all her life in numerous communities where they lived – including Magnolia, Arkansas; Carthage, Texas; Hobbs, New Mexico; and Midland, Texas. She was a busy member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she served in various capacities, including Deacon, Elder, and church treasurer, bereavement committee, and “Dress a Live Doll”. She focused her energies on services for those with special needs through Presbyterian women’s organizations and community service organizations. She did volunteer work for Hospice of Midland and contributed many hours to Meals on Wheels. With her beautician license she volunteered as a hair stylist for patients in Big Spring State Hospital.
She was predeceased by her husband, parents, and grandson Jesse Stuckey. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law – Donald P. (Carla) Stuckey of Sugar Land, and Daniel E. (Anne) Stuckey of Katy; four grandsons - Daniel J. Stuckey and wife, Dawn, of Pearland; Clint Stuckey and wife, Linsey, of Katy; John Paul Stuckey of Hutto; and Luke Stuckey of Houston; three granddaughters – Helen Posvar and husband, Brandon, of College Station; Bridget Baker and husband, Whitney, of Richmond; and Emma Stuckey of Provo, Utah; fourteen great-grandchildren, a sister Pauline Cocke and husband, Jim, of Longview; a brother David Henderson and wife, Jan, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two nieces and a nephew. She will be fondly remembered and missed by all her family and friends.
