

Gatha Lee Shields Hogan, age 88 of Sugarland Texas, passed away peacefully from this life and entered into Heaven on March 6, 2022. She was born in Barton County, Missouri, near Lamar Missouri on October 21, 1933. She was the only daughter of Alfa and Mabel Shields.
Gatha attended school in Lamar Missouri, where she excelled in administrative classes, cooking and homemaking. After graduation, she went on to Kansas City Mo., to work for Western Auto. It was in Kansas City where she met her future husband Don Hogan after his sister and brother-n-law set them up on a blind date.
Don and Gatha moved extensively with the K-Mart Corporation, and during this time they attended many churches wherever they relocated. Gatha taught Girls Sunday School classes, GAs, and she participated in many mission trips and even worked with migrant workers, a cause which was near to her heart. After moving to Sugar Land, she attended First Baptist Sugar Land and helped to charter Williams Trace Baptist Church. She later attended and volunteered in various ministries at Sugar Creek Baptist Church. Gatha worked for the Law firm of Becker and Carroll where she continued to witness on a daily basis to the clients that were drawn to her friendly smile and assuring words of encouragement,
Gatha loved gardening and later in life became an avid artist. Her paintings were her ministry well into her 80s. She was a prayer warrior for her family, friends, and Church.
Gatha is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Howard Shields and his wife Lillian, her brother Rev. Harold Shields, her infant daughter Dawn Lee, and her former spouse Don Hogan. She is survived by her daughter, Raenell Bailey and husband Hubert Bailey of Philadelphia, Mississippi, Heather Kisinger and her husband Mike Kisinger of Sugar Land Texas, and her daughter, Valerie Hanson of Sugar Land, Texas, as well as her grandchildren Tara Tomlinson and her husband Mick Tomlinson, Clayton Bailey, Mitchell Kisinger and his wife Dianna of Missouri City, Zachary Kisinger and his wife Sierra , Kylie Hanson, Jaydan Kisinger, Ryan Kisinger and her great grandchildren, Cooper Michael Kisinger, Bowen Cade Kisinger and Knox Carson Kisinger.
