John Kenneth Lewis passed away on February 16, 2022. He was born in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, to Richard and Kathleen (Kitty) Lewis and grew up on a horse farm surrounded by his loving family, including siblings Claire, Kerry, Myles, and Patrick.
As a young man, he participated in many sports and excelled in swimming and tennis.
Ken, as he was known to his many friends, served in the Australian military and later graduated college with a degree in engineering. He had a long, successful career in the oil business, during which he built lifelong friendships.
Ken met the love of his life, Nancy Froelich Lewis, in Hawaii in the 1970s, where they married in 1976. Ken and Nancy’s shared sense of adventure led them around the world, to homes in Malaysia, Australia,
Alaska, and Utah, as well as travel to dozens of other countries. Ken was known to his friends as a “gentleman’s gentleman” who held high standards but was always kind.
Ken and Nancy eventually settled in Sugar Land, Texas, where Ken was an active golfer and member of the Sugar Creek Country Club. In addition to his wife, Ken is survived by his daughters Julie Bass,
Serrie Lewis, Denise Groth, and Michelle Nicolet, sons in law David Groth and Marshall Burt, and grandchildren Andrew Bass, Samantha Bass, Jasmine Fanning, Taylor Peck, Katie Groth, Madeline Burt, Nick Burt, and Great Grandchildren Sadie Bass and Rose Bolack.
A celebration of life is being planned for later this spring.
