Karla Ann McCandlish McCoy, 54, of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away on February 8, 2025.
She was born on February 26, 1970, in West Monroe, Louisiana, and graduated from West Monroe High School in 1988. Growing up, she was active in First Baptist Church in West Monroe, where she sang in the choir and participated in youth trips. In high school, she continued her love of music as a choir member and Rebel Raider. She attended Northeast Louisiana University on a music scholarship and met her future husband, Gordon McCoy, at the Baptist Student Union, where she sang on the freshman praise team. They married on January 13, 1990, and recently celebrated 35 years of marriage. She was a deeply committed Christian mother, and was passionate about seeing her children grow up to live committed Christian lives. Their family grew to include three children: Megan Nicole Dale (33), Alex (21), and Ben (20), along with their granddaughter, Blakely Elise Dale (7 months).
Throughout their life together, Karla and Gordon lived in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Monroe, Louisiana; Denver, Colorado; and Sugar Land, Texas. No matter where they were, she remained active in church choirs and praise teams, serving at Temple Baptist Church, Greenwell Springs Baptist Church, and Foothills Bible Church. Her passion was singing hymns and worship songs, bringing joy to both her home and her church.
