Linda is predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 44 years, Frank H. Marsters, III; her parents, Hazel and Jim Platt; and her sister, Patricia Fortenberry. She is survived by her children, Lindsay Marsters, Frank Marsters, IV and April and James Marsters; her sister, Marsha Montes; her brothers-in-law, Charles Montes, and Kirby Fortenberry; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Linda’s pride and joy was being a Gran to her seven grandchildren: Jace and Aubrey Marsters; Cori and Ty Cantu; McKenna, Hannah, and Frank “Harrison” Marsters, V.
Linda and Frank married on June 10, 1972, and raised their daughter and twin boys in Missouri City, Texas. Linda spent many years as a third grade teacher and a math coordinator after graduating from the University of Houston with a degree in education. In 1985, she was named Fort Bend ISD’s Teacher of the Year and a State Teacher of the Year finalist.
After obtaining her master’s degree, Linda served as the principal of Sugar Mill Elementary and was named TEPSAN’s District IV Principal of the Year in 1998. During her time as an educator, she was active with the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
She also worked closely with the ARC of Fort Bend to organize events and raise money for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Linda dedicated her life to serving others and had a way of making everyone she met feel seen and valued. Her kindness, wisdom, and passion for learning left an impression on everyone. She retired from Fort Bend ISD after 30 years of service, but her love for serving and celebrating those around her continued.
After retirement, Linda served as an educational consultant, volunteered at her grandchildren’s schools, and helped shape Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital’s leadership and service quality. In 2007, Linda created the Marsters’ Nursing Excellence Award at MHSL where she and her family honored a nurse each year for their exemplary professional and community contributions.
Linda never met a stranger nor forgot a name, always making those around her feel special and loved. She was a true leader within her community and touched the lives of many. She had a passion for reading, enjoyed being at the beach, loved to hunt, and was a true Aggie fan through and through; however, her most treasured moments were spent with her children and grandchildren.
