

LOUIS STANLEY DUBIEL, age 80, a retired educator who served in a variety of lay ministries at St. Laurence Catholic Church, went to be with his Lord Jesus on Christmas morning. Born in Buffalo, NY, Mr. Dubiel graduated from Canisius High School and Canisius College. He served proudly in the U.S. Army in the Korean conflict and in the Army Reserves. In 1955, he married Molly Theresa and began a career teaching History and Government at Alden and Cleveland Hill Schools in New York. At Cleveland Hill, he was the Guidance Department Director. He also taught at Buffalo State College and the State University of New York at Buffalo. After retirement from Cleveland Hill, Mr. Dubiel moved to the Houston area in 1989. In retirement he served as a Lay Eucharist Minister, dedicated time to helping a food bank for the needy, and enjoyed his family. Mr. Dubiel was preceded in death by his daughter, Judith Ann Dubiel; and sister, Eleanor Schaffstall. He is survived by his wife, Molly; daughter, Cynthia Marut of Richmond, TX, her husband Stephen Marut, and their children Hannah and Leah Marut; son, David Dubiel of The Woodlands, TX, his wife Laurie Dubiel, and their children Chad, Kyle, Tyler, Zachary, Anne Therese, Joshua, and Caleb Dubiel; sister, Rose Marie Dubiel of Chicago, IL; brother, Paul John Dubiel of Buffalo, NY; and brother-in-law, Eugene Schaffstall of Atlanta, GA. Mr. Dubiel skillfully and sacrificially served his Lord, his family, and his country. He was a gift to all who knew him. His smile, his fellowship, his advice, and his constant care will always be remembered and greatly missed. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 6, 2012, at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Blvd., Sugar Land, with the Rev. Drew Wood, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal will follow at 1:30 PM, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, with military honors.
