

Marilyn Joan Gest, age 70, was born on March 4, 1946, in Bellville, TX. She departed this life peacefully on October 27, 2016. She was surrounded by family and friends and was listening to one of her favorite songs, Amazing Grace. Marilyn was a truly devoted Mother, Sister, Grandmother and friend. She resided in the Huntington Apartments in Sienna Plantation where she was a friend to many. She enjoyed the weekly bingo and created true friendships that will never be forgotten. She was a regular at her grandsons’ baseball games. She was regarded as their biggest fan and traveled wherever the team took her. Marilyn was a member of River Pointe Church in Missouri City, TX. She was re-baptized and it was then that she fully gave her life to Christ. She never questioned why or lost faith through her year-long battle of pancreatic cancer. She would often refer to the “C” letter but always saying that the letter “C “is for Christ, not cancer. Marilyn worked for the historical Imperial Sugar refinery located in Sugar Land, TX until they closed their doors. She was very passionate about the work she did and the friendships that were created during her time there. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee Gest and Margaret O’Con. Survivors include her children, Rachel Brannan and husband Scott of Missouri City, TX, and Timothy St.Andry and wife Robin, of Parkersburg, West Virginia. Sister, Margie Gest, Austin, TX. Aunt to Bonnie Cook-Kassens, Austin, TX, Jason Cook, Austin, TX. Grandchildren are Jackson Brannan and Spencer Brannan of Missouri City, TX, Megan St.Andry-Hunt, and Christa St.Andry of Amarillo, TX, and William St.Andry, of Parkersburg, West Virginia. Great-grandchildren include, Kylie, Xavier, Izaik, Alaura, Thomas, Violet, Gaige & Aiden. Memorial services will be held on November 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at River Pointe Church, 5000 Ransom Rd, in Richmond, TX, 77469. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Scottie Denton Educational Fund. Scottie is on the autism spectrum and attends a great school called Next Step Academy.This school is very expensive but has made a tremendous difference in Scottie’s progress.
