David,
I just happened to see that your Mom passed away. I met you and your Mom about 5 or 6 years ago at Brookdale. I had worked at NASA, if you recall. My Mom, Louise Prince, was living there at that time. She is now 93 years old, but unfortunately, is now in the memory care section, under hospice care at Landon Ridge in Sugar Land. My Mom and I spoke to your Mom once at Brookdale. I think that your Mom was about 104 years old at the time. She was a delight to talk to.

You have my condolences.

Eternal Memory!
Dear David and Ida,
You have my sincerest condolences and prayers. David, you have been such a superb son all of these years, expending such great energy to be present to your mother. What a blessing you have been to her—and, given all that you have said concerning her, no doubt she was an immense blessing for you as well.

You have my warmest affection during these days of transition and into the future.

Peace,
Matthew

What a testimony and legacy left behind - a LEGACY of his FAITHFULNESS as Mary journeyed on. Though I never met her personally, your posts have painted such a picture of her. And I will never forget talking to David as he was kindly sharing about taking his mum for meal (a burger place?) and talking about Romans. A memory I will treasure and not forgetting continuing her bible studies despite her centennial age.

From Anna Svensson (Sweden and Pakistan)

I never met Mary in person, but if somehow feels like I have. At least, her life has touched mine and I am grateful for it. About ten years ago, when I was in an in-between period of my life, I stayed with David and Ida and their cat Dilly in Oxford, often for several months at a time, making me feel like I had gained a home and extended my family. I heard all these amazing stories about David’s mother, this extraordinary woman who led Bible studies from memory and had steadfast convictions that circumstances did nothing to shake. We spoke on the phone a few times, and it touches me still that this wise and generous-hearted 100+ year old whom I had never met had room for me in her thoughts and prayers.
David gave me a beautiful embroidered woolen shawl from Bangladesh that had belonged to her. It is cream and edged with meticulously stitched red flowers in a black border. I will wear it on Friday and think of you all as you celebrate and remember a long faithful life well-lived.

David and Ida, Richard and I are so sorry we are unable to be with you. I have a pinched nerve and can't walk or stand for very long. We loved the video! I will miss all of the wonderful visits Mary and I had over the years about "old" Rosenberg. She and I shared many memories of people that we knew from the 40's and 50's from that small town. Who would have ever thought that young girl from Rosenberg would travel the world and make such an impact on so many lives? We had good visits as I took her to the dressmakers, bank and Dillards. She was always such a lady in her dresses and skirts. Her memory of Bible verses was astounding. I am blessed to have my memories of her. Blessing to all of her family. Heaven is even more special now. Peggy and Richard Norman
