Michael Douglas Heathcott, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2011. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Heathcott. Doug is survived by his mother, Martha Heathcott; brother, Bill Heathcott and his wife Debby; nieces and nephews, Kaylee, Will, Hope and Luke Heathcott; and many more loving family members, colleagues, and friends. Doug was born in Houston and raised in Missouri City, TX. He graduated from Dulles High School, where he raised many show animals for FFA. He received his Bachelors of Business Administration from Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of ‘89. He later received his Masters from Thunderbird and went on to work with his father at CDI. He returned to FAST/CDI in 2010 to manage the Technical Service Team. Known for his sense of humor, Doug lived in a world of laughter where his ability to bring a smile to anyone's face left him unforgettable to all who met him and blessed those closest to him with many fond memories of times together. His greatest joy came from spending time with those closest to him – lunch with his mom; at the lake with his brother, or on the golf course with friends; and holidays with his family. A talented carpenter and artist, Doug was able to transform any medium into a treasure and could almost always be found working in his shop. His love for the Lord assures us that while we will miss the laughter he brought to our lives, we will have beautiful furniture in Heaven. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 20, 2011, at the Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land (Williams Trace Exit). Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM, Friday, October 21, 2011, at Sugar Creek Baptist Church, 13333 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land. Interment will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, in Houston.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Heathcott, Will Heathcott, Luke Heathcott, Bobby Hancock, Jim Weison, Tommy Mackey, Chris Parker, and Edwin Chavez.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests memorials be made to the Michael Douglas Heathcott ’89 Endowed Memorial Scholarship at The Association of Former Students, Texas A&M University, 505 George Bush Drive, College Station, Texas 77840; or online, Aggienetwork.com.
