Reyes Niño

Reyes Niño, Sr., age 91, of Rosenberg Texas, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024. Mr. Niño was born in Donna Texas as the son of the late Martin and Maria Nicanora Niño. He was the beloved husband for over 30 years to the late Arcadia Peña Niño and loving father to eight children, including Irene Niño, Gilbert Niño, Diana Acosta, Gloria Monacelli, Irma Niño, the late Delia Carrizales, David Niño, and Reyes Niño, Jr. Mr. Niño was also a brother to Pauline Briseño, Maria Espericueta, Elodia Rocha, Robert Niño, and Rosa Linda Sauceda.

During his long career, he served as a member the U.S. Army National Guard, a Superintendent to many highway construction projects, and an entrepreneur in the trucking industry. This career of “building roads” across Texas became one of his favorite pastimes; he loved driving on these highways behind the wheel of one of his Chevrolet pickup trucks. In fact, Mr. Niño was always happiest outdoors - enjoying God's beautiful landscapes, swimming and boating on Texas lakes, sitting on Texas beaches, dancing at outdoor flea markets, picking pecans, or just sitting in his own backyard talking with friends and family. He was someone who always found pleasure in life’s simple forms.

A visitation for Reyes Niño, Sr. will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 9:00-9:30 a.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1416 George St., Rosenberg, TX 77471. A rosary service will also occur here from 9:30-10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass 10:00-11:00 a.m. Finally, a reception will be held from 11:00-1:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church Parish Hall, 1416 George St, Rosenberg, TX 77471. The family would like to give special thanks to Gentiva Hospice for their care during his final days. We are also thankful to Holy Rosary Catholic Church for providing weekly communion and prayers at his house. Finally, we are extremely grateful for his caregivers whose patience, companionship, and respect allowed Reyes to live in his home comfortably and at peace during the final chapter of his life.
