Robert Heath Rice

Robert (Bob) Heath Rice, our beloved father, grandpa, and gramps, entered into rest on June 30, 2022. He was born on March 17, 1932 in Mansfield, Ohio, the only child to Raymond and Helen Rice. While attending Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, he was a member of the Air Force ROTC, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Omicron Delta Kappa, and President of the Interfraternity Council. Graduating in 1954, he joined the Air Force shortly after and was stationed at Ellington Air Force Base in Houston, Texas. Later, he began his retail career with Foley’s and Neiman Marcus and eventually found his passion in the insurance industry, beginning his lifelong, very successful career with Allstate Insurance.

While in the Air Force, he met his future wife, Linda Barnett. They were married soon after and were together for 45 years. Later after having two loving daughters, Lisa and Allyson, they settled in Quail Valley.

Bob had an elegance and sophistication for the arts, fashion, and entertaining. He treasured family history and precious heirlooms. Bob was always adored around his social circles and was known to be a lovely man and a gentleman. He was an avid traveler embarking on numerous trips throughout the country and various countries around the world.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Lisa Poynor and Allyson Santola, grandson Cody Osborne and wife Christine Osborne, great granddaughter Annette Osborne, step grandchildren Scott Poynor and wife Tammy Poynor, Connie Ketchum, and Kimberlee Martin, 5 step great grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife Linda Rice, his son in law Rick Poynor, and his parents Raymond and Helen Rice.

A funeral service for Bob will be held Friday, July 8, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. at The Settegast-Kopf Company at Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway Sugar Land, TX 77478, followed by a reception from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation at www.macular.org.
