

~Ronald Scott Pace was born on January 11, 1964 in Lexington Kentucky to Ronald and Shirley Pace. He was later joined by his sister Kristen (Roach). His childhood was spent enjoying his grandmother’s garden and cooking, fishing with his father, and family time at his grandparent’s house. He grew up to become an avid wildcat’s fan of the University of Kentucky and enjoyed watching games especially basketball games. He had a love for dogs and had multiple through the years as a child, such as Freddy and Scooby named after Scooby-Doo show.
He graduated from Lafayette High School in May of 1982. He went on to continue his education and attended the University of Kentucky. While in college, he joined the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He received his Bachelor’s in Accounting in 1987. He furthered his education later on with Regis University and received his Master’s in Business Administration. After college, he wanted to serve his country and decided to join the Navy. He completed his basic training in Florida and was later assigned to be in San Francisco to be a part of the inaugural crew for the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln 72. During his Navy career, he served in the first Gulf War for operation desert storm. After honorably discharged in 1993 as full-time military personnel, he continually served at the Navy Reserves later. Scott was activated in three days following 9/11 attack and served one year tour in Bahrain. He served a total of 18 years in the U.S Navy and was honorably discharged in 2005. He loved his time in the Navy with his journey as a petty officer and it gave him the opportunity to make friends and travel the world.
He met his wife, Mei, in Shanghai China through mutual friends in 1992. They corresponded for a year before getting married in March 1993 in Shanghai followed by a second wedding in October in Lexington. In July 1994, they were blessed with a daughter, Stephanie.
Outside of the Navy life, Scott worked as Financial Analyst at Lexington Herald Leader. In 2000, the family was joined by their beloved golden Molly. In 2004 the family moved to Houston, Texas. In Houston, his career expanded to the oil and gas industry and became a Project Manager for a drilling company. Scott and Mei later decided to open their own home care business. Stephanie joined the business soon after and the family business continued and expanded. Stephanie took over the business and Scott turned his focus to helping her as a general manager. In 2018, Riley, their German Shepherd joined the family and was a welcome addition.
Scott, Mei, and Stephanie had a love and passion for traveling and were lucky to go on many unforgettable family vacations and cruises all over the world, adding to Scott’s country count to about 40 and also 30 in states. During his life time, he visited Great Wall, Terracotta Warriors, Maya Ruins, volcano in Hawaii. His favorite countries were Singapore, Japan, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, France, and Mexico.
Scott enjoyed ballroom dancing when their daughter was in college. He and Mei spent three years at the dancing studio, met with friends, and learned a variety of dances. He enjoyed reading books, spending time with family watching Hallmark movies and Food Network shows, eating good and healthy foods family cooked. He also enjoyed watching Kentucky games with fellow wildcats’ fan Eugene and Sunday talks with Navy friend Tim.
In February 2022, Scott was diagnosed with stage four Esophageal cancer after a bout with COVID-19. He began treatments, Mei and Stephanie put their focus on his health care, trying to extend his life as long as possible. He fought hard and was able to keep his normal life during the last 39 months, which exceeded doctor’s prediction of 6 months to 2 years. His journey through life came to an end on May 14, 2025. He will be deeply missed by his family who truly loved him.
