Sharon Janice Haney was called to be with our Lord on May 27, 2022. Jan, as her friends and family called her, was born November 1, 1940, in East Grand Forks, MN. She is the daughter of the late Veronica Bushee Belt and Walter Ervin Belt.
Jan loved playing card games and board games and passed that love to her children, grandchildren and even her great-grandchildren. She always had her bag full of pennies and quarters handy in her “wampum” bag. Jan played games with passion, yet she loved to joke, and she kept everyone entertained with her playful banter and wise cracks.
Jan loved sports and there was always a game on her TV. She loved baseball, football, golf, and tennis. She followed the Houston Astros and the Atlanta Braves, and she knew every tennis player on the circuit. Her favorite sport was college football, and she was a big Clemson fan!
Jan loved to bake. She could never eat all the goodies she baked so her friends and neighbors also had the pleasure of her treats. She made homemade candy every Christmas; we all had our favorites and she enjoyed making our special candy. Jan loved dogs and always had one as a pet. She was very crafty and made beautiful, crocheted afghans and throw blankets.
In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her daughter Theresa Ann Haney, a sister Rita Galloway, and her brother Robert Belt. Jan is survived by her son Timothy and his wife Cindy, her daughter Tammy Wyble and her wife Freda Philbeck, grandson Jacob Haney and his wife Lisa, granddaughter Amanda Haney, and three great-grandchildren Westin, Bryce, and McKinley Haney, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, June 6 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Laurence Catholic Church. Interment will be at the Forest Park Southwest Cemetery in Richmond, TX. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
