
TOBIN “TOBY” LAZOR, age 60, of Missouri City, Texas, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014. He was born June 3, 1954, in New York City, to Thomas and Wilma Rahikka Lazor. Toby graduated from the University of Connecticut. He was a member of the Ancient Mariners, Connecticut Fife and Drum Corps, performing throughout the New England area and Switzerland. Toby worked as an Emergency Medical Technician in the 1970’s, helping start the Ambulance Association in Westbrook, CT, and then teaching EMT classes to various fire departments on the Connecticut shoreline. He worked for the Westbrook Fire/Ambulance Dept. from 1972-1978, while also serving as a policeman in Westbrook, Old Lyme, and Clinton, CT, through the early 1980’s. In 1980, he began a fifteen year career with Power Phone, a company which taught 911, police, and fire dispatch operator’s throughout the United States and the world. It was during this time that he traveled across the United States, going as far as Point Barrow, Alaska, and to countries such as Italy, France, and China. Toby joined GE in 1998, working in the Healthcare and Commercial Finance businesses, primarily focusing in the Learning and Development Training area. He retired in 2006. Toby was very involved with the Eclipse Soccer Club, both as a parent/coach, and as a member of the Eclipse Soccer Board. He will always be remembered for his laughter, jokes, and for being the “master” of any room. Toby was a devoted and loving husband, father, and friend, who will be greatly missed by those who loved him, and by those whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tom Lazor. Toby is survived by his wife of fourteen years, Martha McCann-Lazor; son, Derek Lazor; daughter, Katherine Lazor; mother and step-father, Wilma and Bruce Holbrook; brother, Brian Lazor, Bruce Holbrook, and Jared Lazor; and many other loving relatives and friends. As per his request, a private service was held in his memory.
