

WILL GAWLIK, age 56, of Sugar Land Texas, passed away August 12, 2011, after a courageous two and a half year battle with colon cancer. Will is survived by his wife of 20 years, Kathy Gawlik; and his two sons, Brian and Kevin Gawlik. He is also survived by his sister, Alice Moczygemba; brother, Edwin Gawlik and his wife Janette; sister, Kathy Sellers and her husband Ronald; mother, Justine Gawlik; nieces and nephews, Sheri Stanush, Christie Pullen, Jeff Moczygemba, Justin Moczygemba, Jenni Moczygemba, Ryan Sidders, Michael Sidders and Monica Sidders; and great nieces and nephews, Lexi Stanush, Tait Stanush, Chris Pullen and Lane Pullen. Will proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1974 to 1977 in Korea. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1981. He worked as a petroleum land man for 25 years. Will was a devoted husband, father, and uncle. Will was an assistant scoutmaster with Troop 1845 for 8 years. He loved to go on high adventure campouts and help the boy scouts earn merit badges and advance in scouting. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church for 22 years. He enjoyed planning and taking vacations, as well as seeing and trying new things. He loved to water ski, snow ski, jet ski, snorkel and fish. Will also enjoyed jogging, eating healthy, and discussing politics and the stock market. He enjoyed meeting new people, as well as getting together with old friends. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 19, 2011, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at The Settegast-Kopf Co. At Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land (Williams Trace Exit), with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011, at 10:30 AM, at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Blvd., Sugar Land. Burial will be held on Monday, August 22, 2011, at 10:00 AM, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veteran’s Memorial Drive, Houston, with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Will’s memory be made to Boy Scouts of America.
