Barbara Evans McMichael

Barbara Evans McMichael, 88, of Sulphur, Louisiana passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2023 in Inez, Texas. She was born to her late parents, Robley and Pearl Evans on January 23, 1935 in Sulphur, Louisiana. She loved tending to her flower garden, singing in the Agin Cajuns, traveling with her companion, and was an avid reader. Barbara was a devoted Christian with a deep spiritual faith, and was a faithful servant of the Nazarene Church all of her life. Most important to her was her family who she loved more than anything in the world.

She is survived by her companion of 17 years, Claude Johnson of Sulphur, Louisiana; sons, Earl John McMichael (Julie) of Inez, Texas and Terry McMichael (Lela) of Sulphur, Louisiana; along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Robley McMichael and Craig McMichael; one daughter, Marsha Saunier; one sister, Geraldine Self; one granddaughter, Sarah Constance; and one grandson, Earl John "Trooper" McMichael, IV.

A Celebration of Barbara's life will be held at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Michael Howard officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday, from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines South Cemetery in Sulphur, Louisiana.
