

Brad was born the son of A.J. “Boots” DeCoux and Willie Dell Landry DeCoux at St. Patrick Hospital, Lake Charles, Louisiana on November 23, 1954, and died at 7:34 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017.
He is survived by his sister, Cynthia DeCoux Stone, and her husband, Walter Stone.
Brad was a graduate of Our Lady’s School; The Governor’s Program for Gifted Children; W.W. Lewis Junior High School; Sulphur High School (1972) and Louisiana State University (B.S. 1976)
He was the operator of “Fap’s Kitchen” in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Statewide Purchasing Agent in Louisiana Governor’s Office, Division of Administration; National Manager of Right of Way and Claims Division of Conoco, Inc. and Real Estate Broker with Lake Country Realty on Toledo Bend Reservoir.
Brad managed to survive being robbed and shot in the head while picking his mother up at the New Orleans Amtrack station in 1994. He died of small cell carcinoma cancer that metastasized to the stomach, liver, lungs and bronchial tubes.
His final battle was supported by his sister, Cynthia; many dear friends, in particular, Margaret Hoffpauir and Sharon McHale; Dwight Law Firm, LLC; friends from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office and the staff and doctors of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital Oncology Department.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 20 in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Deacon Chris Gregory will officiate. Burial will be in Farquhar Cemeteery in Sulphur. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday, with a rosary service at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any of Brad’s favorite charities, Father Flanagan’s Boys Town; St. Jude Children’s Hospital; Shriner’s Hospital for Children; the U.S.O. or the D.A.V.
