Connie Ortiz

She had been a resident of Vernon, Texas for the last 30 years, moving from Quanah, Texas. Connie was an excellent mentor and was looked up to by many of the young people that she worked with. She was a member of Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church in Vernon, Texas.

Survivors include her husband, Jesus Garcia of Vernon, Texas; her children, Marivell Ramirez of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Mary Martinez of Vernon, Texas, Francis Martinez of Vernon, Texas, and Fidela Nail and husband, Aaron of Vernon, Texas; her five sisters; her eight grandchildren, Maricela Ramirez, Mariah Ramirez, Karisma Vidal, Estevan Vidal, Ariana Castillo, Ayden Nail, Alexa Nail, and Amari McManus; two great-grandchildren; and special nieces that she helped raise. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Fidel Jessie Martinez; her daughter, Patricia Martinez; her parents, Carmen Gonzales and Macedonio Quesada Ramirez; and two brothers.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 21, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Trevor Kelley will officiate. Visitation is from 2-6 Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday in the funeral home.
