She was a native of Springhill, Louisiana and had been a resident of the Starks-DeQuincy area and Negreet, Louisiana for many years before moving to Carlyss in 2004. She worked as a Special Education Teacher and then a Finance Manager for many years before going back to school to complete her education as a nurse. Debbie then began her nursing career where she worked for various care centers in geriatrics, where her passion was. She enjoyed being outdoors, arts and crafts, sewing, baking, and cooking.
Survivors include her daughter, Hollie Clement and husband, Cody of Carlyss; and two grandchildren, Cole Ford and Chasen Clement. She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin H. and Audrey Shaw.
A Celebration of Deborah's Life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home led by Jody Barrilleaux, Celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Natchitoches. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday in the funeral home.
