I have always seen in obituaries the phrase “She passed from this life into glory surrounded by her loved ones”. Well on the morning of Sunday November 19, 2017 that is EXACTLY what happened when our Sweet, Precious Mom, Elaine Martin Tyler died at the age of 75. She was born in Sulphur and lived in Carlyss all her life. Our wonderful nurse, Daniel in the ICU ward of Cal Cam Hospital said it was a Blessing to see and hear our family sing and gather around her bed as she peacefully drifted off to Heaven at 10:28am. We thank God for allowing us this week as He started that process. Mom was such a quiet person, not like me her oldest daughter, Jody Lynn Tyler Barrilleaux. I am thankful for my rock and wonderful husband Dwayne, who loved her dearly. My sister Susan Tyler Vincent is more like Mom so very sweet, quiet and gentle of a person. Mom was so happy when she found the love of her life and married him, Kevin Vincent too loved his mother in law. We both live here in Sulphur. Then there is Mom’s precious “Baby Boy” Kenneth Lynn Tyler Jr, who is known to all as Kenny. Mom had a great relationship and loved his wife, Maritza, and she in return loved her mother in law. They are from West Palm Beach, Florida. Mom was so happy knowing that all her children were loved and taken care of by their partners in life. Mom has 9 grandchildren, Jamie, Trey, Brent, Joni, Ashley, Jake, Tabitha, Patty and Sylvia and 15 precious great grandchildren. She is now with Dad, Kenneth Lynn Tyler Sr. whom she was married 52 yrs when he passed in 2015. I have a feeling it won’t be too long before her Sweet Mother, Yolande Doucet who is 96yrs old, will join all the rest of her family who has gone on to Heaven before her, Mom’s 2 sisters, Delores Douget and Linda LeDoux, and her husband, Mom’s dad, Alcide “Mickey” Martin.
Mom was an avid bowler in her younger years and Susan, Kenny and I all took after that love of bowling as well. Mom was also an avid reader, great cook and crocheted the most beautiful afghans, which we will all cherish. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Theresa Catholic Church so it is with honor that we celebrate her life there at 10am on Wednesday Nov. 22nd. She has a “Sisterhood” from her Acts retreat family who will honor her with a rosary and will be led by her best friend, Kathy Benoit on Tuesday Nov. 23rd at 6pm, Visitation will be that evening from 5-8, at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial funeral Home where I am honored to work. We will then go lay her to rest with Dad at Mimosa Pines South.
Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
