She was born in Brooklyn, New York and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last 53 years. Elvira was an active member of Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church and assisted with the sewing of prayer blankets. She enjoyed fishing, playing pokeno with friends, shopping, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Eugene Duplechan, Jr. of Sulphur, Silvio Duplechan and wife, Gina of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Glenn Duplechan and wife, Jennifer of Sulphur, and Paul Duplechan of Many; her grandchildren, Silvio Duplechan Jr, Dillon Duplechan, Emily Duplechan, Nina Cocchi, Amanda Marazzo, Sebastian Duplechan, Austin Emery, and Ashlyn Moffatt; and great-grandchildren, Silvio Duplechan, III, Olivia Duplechan, Mia Cocchi, and Del Cocchi. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Dale Duplechan; her parents; and her siblings, Martha "Marty" Casola, and Teddy Casola.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday May 2, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. John Welch, M.S. will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Thursday in the funeral home.
