Jr. retired after over 28 years with Cameron Parish School Board. Every chance he got Jr. loved fishing and enjoyed teaching his grandkids how to fish.
Jr. was preceded in death by his son, Lester Lee Portie, and his parents, Ervis, Sr. and Louise Portie.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Katherine Portie; five children: Keith Portie, Carl Portie, Kevin Portie and wife, Brandi, Lonnie Portie and wife, Shanda, and Sue LeJeune and husband, Joey; 16 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Trahan and husband, Carlton "Butterball" and Barbara Giroir and husband, Andre; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitaiton will be from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Trinity Baptist Church, 505 Beglis Pkwy in Sulphur. Visitation will resume at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Hackberry Community Center.
Funeral service will follow visitation at 2:00 p.m. in Hackberry Community Center. Rev. Jeanne Gunter will officiate services. Jr will be carried to his final place of rest in his boat which was painted by his son, Lonnie. The truck will be driven by Peggy Bean along with the pallbearers: Keith, Lonnie, and Kevin Portie, Willie Bradford, David Vincent, and Joey LeJeune. Services are under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
