Georgia Ilene Burrell

Georgia Ilene Burrell, age 92, was born on October 21, 1922 in Clareton, Wyoming and passed away on August 23, 2015 in The Woodlands, TX in a local nursing home surrounded by family. She lived in Sulphur most of her life.

Georgia was a nurse for over 30 years. She was a lifelong care giver and very compassionate about her work and to the patients she served. She loved cooking, traveling, playing cards with friends, and spending time with her family.

She was a very involved member of VFW Post #8107 Ladies’ Auxiliary, and of The Rebekah’s Lodge #73 serving as President in both organizations. The greatest pleasure after retiring from working was being involved in the Foster Grandparent Program at R.W. Vincent Elementary. She was recognized as Foster Grandparent of the year in 2003 & 2004.

She is survived by her sons, John LeDoux (Tommie) of The Woodlands, TX, Stephen E. LeDoux (Susan) of Mobile, AL, and Edward Lee LeDoux (Diane) of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Samuel Kyle, Eric Thomas, Jennifer LeDoux Frezell, Dr. John Francis (Adrienne), James Stephen LeDoux, Andrew Davis, and Peter Kyle (Sarah) LeDoux; great-grandchildren, John Philip, Robert Francis, Ryan Elizabeth, Georgia Abigail, Elizabeth Lyne, James Stephen, Jr., Henry Thomas, Susan Melrose, Frances Sutton, Madeline Sue, Abbigail Lynn, ; sisters, Mildred Hazel and Lillian Lynn both of Sulphur; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her her parents, James Samuel and Mary Albina Balding, and the father of her children, John Stephen LeDoux, three sisters, Frances O’Neil, Hattie Balding, and Marjorie Hobbs.

Funeral services will be 1p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Farquhar Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30 – 8 p.m. Tuesday and 12-1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
