Helen was a native and lifelong resident of Sulphur before moving to DeRidder about seven years ago. She was a faithful and devoted member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church, where she was actively involved with the Legion of Mary and generously gave her time assisting with bake sales, craft sales, and chaperoning teen dances. Helen had also attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeRidder since her move there. She enjoyed watching television, crafting, and spending time outdoors mowing her lawn and tending to yard work. She especially loved doing word search puzzles and could often complete entire books in a single day.
Survivors include her son, Charles Chaisson and wife, Kimberly of DeRidder; her siblings, Raymond Chaisson and wife, Mary of Midland, Texas, and Janelle LeDoux, Stanley Chaisson and wife, Carol, and Lucy O'Quain and husband, Tommy, all of Sulphur; her grandchildren, Roy Chaisson and wife, Lauren, Chris Chaisson, and Ashley Chaisson; great-grandchildren, Aiden Chaisson, Imrye Rousse, and Ritchie Chaisson; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Adles Chaisson; her nephew, Eddie LeDoux; and siblings, Robert Broussard, Joe Chaisson, and Howard Chaisson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Sulphur. Rev. Ron Foshage, M.S. will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and from 10 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Roy Chaisson, Chris Chaisson, Tiger O'Quain, Chris O'Quain, Jeff O'Quain, and Justin Chaisson. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Chaisson, Derek Chaisson, and Tyler Hartjen.
