

Helen was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught a Senior Ladies Class, whom she lovingly called “My Girls”. She also served as Director of Homebound Ministry, visiting home bound members and nursing homes in Sulphur and Lake Charles. She loved singing and traveling with the Agin Cajuns.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, O.J. Johnson, a business man and a Southern Baptist minister, pastoring churches in Louisiana and Texas. They especially enjoyed doing mission work at Toledo Bend, and worked with young people in the Sports Clinic at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Grand Chenier, LA.
Helen was also preceded in death by her father and mother, Lazime and Mellisa Daigle; two sisters, Bessie Brouse and Lilly Schroeder; one brother, Elvin Daigle; and one niece, Elsie Moak.
Those to cherish her memory are her daughter Sue Collett and husband, Charles, of Humble, Texas; two sons, Gary Johnson and wife Liz, and Steve Johnson and wife, Sherry, all of Sulphur; two granddaughters, Mellisa Waters of Humble, Texas and Krystal Duff and husband, Chris of Sulphur; five grandsons, Chris Collett and wife Angela of Searcy, Arkansas, Jared Johnson of Lake Charles, Casey Johnson of Sulphur, Aaron Johnson and wife, Rachel of Sulphur, and Devin Johnson of Sulphur; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Heddins of Fruitvale, Texas, three nieces, Joyce Moses of Sulphur, Charlotte Burney of New Mexico, and Jeanie Kay Smith of Palo Alto, California; five nephews, Rolland, David, Stuart, Jonathan Heddins, and Ronald Daigle.
Helen will be remembered as one who loved.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, in First Baptist Church of Sulphur. Dr. David Holder will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Sulphur under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday in the church.
