

She was very proud of her Hungarian heritage. Her parents immigrated from Hungary into the United States through Ellis Island. Helen, while a young clerk in the Pentagon, met her husband shortly after World War II. He was a US Army serviceman. In 1956 they moved to Sulphur and Helen became an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters, Sulphur Garden Club and Threads of Love by Katie II Quilting Club. She was and avid Gardener, she was passionate about sewing clothes for her children and grandchildren and making quilts for family members and for hospitalized children.
Survivors include her sons, John L. Tenney and wife Deborah and Michael Tenney, all of Sulphur; son-in-law, Joseph DeVall, Sr. of Hackberry; grandchildren, Terry and Jasen Tenney, Shelly Flores, Joey, Kenny and Matt DeVall; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Kenneth C. Tenney; and daughter, Kathryn DeVall.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 14 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South. Visitation will be held 4 - 8 p.m. on Thursday with a Rosary at 6 p.m. and resume Friday at 8 a.m. until time of service. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
