J. Allen was a resident of Vinton for many years and for the past 28 years in Sulphur and a graduate of Vinton High School 1960 and SOWELA Technical College 1964. J. Allen was of the Catholic Faith and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Sulphur, LA. He retired from the Shaw Group as Vice President/General Manager in 2012 culminating a 50 plus year career including being a member of Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 106, Pipeliner’s Local 798, entrepreneurial ownership and various roles in the industrial maintenance area.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of sixty years, Brenda Racca McCall; his children Jessie Allen McCall, Jr. and wife Dorothy Snead McCall; Raymond Lynn McCall; and Edwin Clay McCall and wife Caissy Roger McCall; his grandchildren Kaitlin McCall Fruge, Robert Granval McCall, Madison Kay McCall, Neely Renee’ LaBauve, Konlee Anne McCall, and Lynlee Therese McCall, and great-grandchildren Natalie Marie McCall, Kaden Alexander Lafleur, Brantley Joseph Fruge, and Grayson Thomas Fruge; one brother Francis Alcee McCall, one sister Mary McCall Tharp; nephews and nieces, Glenn McCall, Joann McCall, Jeannie McCall LeBlanc, and Jason Lee Tharp. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert Granval and Louise Benoit McCall and his brother-in-law, Richard Lee Tharp.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Sulphur, LA. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, June 15, 2021, with a rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home, Sulphur, LA. Visitation will resume at 1:00 PM, June 16, 2021 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home, Sulphur, LA followed with a processional to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Sulphur, LA to celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau officiating. Interment will follow at Mimosa Pines Garden South in Carlyss, LA under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
