

She was born in Scott, Louisiana in June of 1937 to Louis Bacque' and Inez Landry Bacque' and moved to Sulphur in the early 40's when she was five years old. Her father helped build Cities Service Refinery with Kellogg Construction Company. She attended Sulphur school from first grade, graduating with honors from Sulphur High School in 1955. She attended Sowela and McNeese. Jeannette met and married Gerald Hansen in 1960. They have one son, James. She was affectionately known as "Nanny". She was a stay at home mom and loved all of her family very much. She and Gerald started doing volunteer work in 1996. She was a member of the Calcasieu Council on Aging (where she served on the advisory board for the Sulphur Senior Center), RSVP, Triad, Sulphur AARP (serving on the board and as advisory chair), Sulphur Civic Club (serving as secretary), and the Sulphur Mayor's Commission on Disability (serving as secretary). She was instrumental in helping pass the No Smoking Ordinance in the City of Sulphur. She and Gerald were chosen as volunteers of the year in 2002 and 2005. Jeannette enjoyed reading, watching television, going to the movies, and being with her family and friends, whom she loved so much. She and Gerald served as the King and Queen for the Krewe of the Golden Years in 2008. She was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, having gone to Catechisms, made her First Communion, Confirmation, married in 1960, and Baptized her son, all at Our Lady of Prompt Succor, and attended church every Sunday. She loved her dogs, Dachshunds and Chihuahuas (Coco and Dolly).
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Gerald Hansen of Sulphur; her son, James Hansen and his partner, Brent McRoberts of Spring, Texas; brother, Larry L. Bacque' of Hackberry; her dear beloved sister, Ramona Ellender (who was born when Jeannette was a Senior in High School) of Carlyss, and her husband, Steve; very special nephew and Godchild, Luke "Duke" Ellender, his wife, Jennifer, and their precious children, Kade Lucas and Kyndal Lane Ellender; and numerous nieces and nephews, and several Godchildren. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth G. Bacque' and Kirby T. Bacque'; sisters-in-law, Margaret Bacque' and Gloria Bacque'.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m., Friday, September 12, in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. The Rev. Edward J. Richard, M.S. will officiate. Pallbearers will be Steve Ellender, Lucas Ellender, Dale Clement, Josh Clement, Kenneth Bacque' Jr, and Ed Grabowski. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
