

She was a native of High Wycombe, England and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last 45 years, coming from Colorado. Joan enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and especially spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Ovie Cormier of Sulphur; three sons, Michael Cormier and wife, Emily of Daphne, Alabama, Gregory Cormier of St. Francisville, and Mark Cormier and wife, Diana of Beaumont, Texas; four grandchildren, Danielle Stevens and husband, James, Denise Gremillion and husband, Chris, Angela Cormier, and Adam Cormier; six great-grandchildren, Steven, Melissa, Zoe, Kaitlyn, Lexi, and Haley; sister-in-law, Dorfe Griffiths, and brother-in-law, Rixby Cormier. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmond and Sarah Griffiths; three brothers and two sisters.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Deacon Patrick Lapoint will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery North in Sulphur. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday in the funeral home.
