

She was a native of Stamford, Texas and had been a resident of Sulphur for over 60 years. Johnnie was an avid reader, enjoyed flower gardening, attending church, participating in Bible studies, and traveling. Her favorite place to travel was her summer home in Colorado. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sulphur. Her family was always the most important part of her life.
Survivors include her children, Kenneth Nabours and wife, Debby of Sulphur, Sharon Payne and husband, Lynn of Covington, Georgia, and John Nabours and wife, Sharon of Sulphur; five grandchildren, James Nabours, Michelle Hoffpauir, Tiffany Pence, Ashley Nabours, and Heather Nabours; and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, J.W. "Bill" Nabours.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, November 5, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. John Barach and Dr. David Holder will officiate. Pallbearers will be James Nabours, Bart Hoffpauir, Monte Pence, Carl Nabours, Matt Redd, and Robert Bridges. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens in Lake Charles. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Monday in the funeral home. The family asks that memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, or Covenant Presbyterian Church for Missions.
