Joyce Marie Abshire

Joyce Marie Abshire, 90, of Sulphur, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026. She was born on August 4, 1935 in Sulphur, Louisiana. She was a parishioner at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Sulphur and was a member of the Legion of Mary. Joyce was also a part of the Prayer Blanket ministry. She loved tending to her plants and enjoyed playing Bingo. Joyce enjoyed her family time, especially playing with her great grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Riley Abshire (Sherry); and daughter, Janet Bergeron (Troy) both of Sulphur, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Cody Abshire (Shannon), Laken Abshire, Jeremy Abshire (Kaycie), Brennan Bergeron (Brandy), and Kristin Bergeron; along with six great grandchildren, Liam, Mack, and Kennedy Abshire, Bryce and Dylan Abshire, and Baker Bergeron.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Abshire; along with her siblings, Lloyd Benoit, Brenda James, and Alberta LeDoux.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Sulphur, Louisiana on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 11:30 am, with Father Ron Foshage officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home in Sulphur, Louisiana on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Cursillo Rosary at 6:30 pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Friday, from 9:00 am until the procession to the church. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Sulphur, Louisiana.
