She was a Class of 1967 graduate of Sulphur High School. Lenda has always been an active member of her church. She grew up in Houston River Baptist Church, after marriage she and her husband moved away. Through those years she was an active member and volunteered at Westview, Pine Ridge and Pine Grove Baptist Churches before returning to Sulphur and Houston River Baptist Church. They made DeRidder their home for over 30 years and Lenda retired from sub contractor document control work at Boise. She will be remembered as a Christian wife, mother, sister, aunt, Nana and great friend to the many lives she touched.
She married the love of her life, Sam Smudricks, 50 years ago on August 10, 1968. Along with Sam, left to cherish her memory are her children, Carvin Scott Smudricks and wife, Allison, of Orange Beach, AL, Toni Renee' Modisette and husband, Jason, of Lake Charles, Samantha Len Vice and husband, Chad, of Sulphur; two "adopted" sons, Ken and Brian Childress of DeRidder; grandchildren Skyliar Motichek, Logan Smudricks, Luke Vice, Parker Modisette, Rylie Modisette, and Melayna Vice; her twin sister, Louise Smudricks and her husband John of Sulphur; and older sister, Dorothy Ellen Oxley of Sulphur.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Laura and Nolan J. Bunch; brother, Jimmy Nolan Bunch; and brother-in-law Michael Oxley.
Funeral Services will be held in Houston River Baptist Church 11am, Saturday, August 11th. The Rev. Lonnie Gothrup will officiate. Burial will follow in Perkins Cemetery of Dequincy.
