

“Sis” was the wife of former mayor of Sulphur, Adias “Be’be’” Saunier. She was born in Slagle, Louisiana to Amos and Edna Owens. She was a faithful member of The First Pentecostal Church of Sulphur. Sis was a loving wife, mother, and Grandmother/Granny.
Survivors include her daughter, Lenora Foster and husband Ron of Groves, Texas; son, James “Nicky” Saunier and wife Marsha of Sulphur, and daughter-in-law, Doris Saunier of Hackberry; sisters, Margaret North of Leesville, LaVonne Pugh and husband Jim of Indianapolis, Indiana, Doris Craighead and husband Billy, Edna Davis and husband Joe, and Wanda Owens all of Houston, Texas, and Marlene Davis and husband Butch of Kingwood, Texas; brother, Rev. Daulton Owens and wife Erma of Bastrop; grandchildren, Debera Saunier, Sheree’ Peoples and husband Ron, John R. Saunier and wife Kelly, Jo Lene Saunier, Ronna Riley and husband Coda, and Julie Foster; great grandchildren, D’Yon Peoples, Keegan Saunier, Brooke Saunier, Jacob Atkinson, Anthony Kirkland, Coda Riley Jr, Kyle Riley, Destiny Riley, and Kayleigh Breaux. She is preceded in death by her husband, Adias “Be’be’” Saunier; son, John Calvin Saunier; her parents, Amos and Edna Owens; brothers, Buford Owens, Herman Owens, Rev. Douglas Owens, and Rev. Bruce Owens.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, in The First Pentecostal Church of Sulphur. The Rev. Jonathan Alvear will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday in the church.
