Leroy Ballou Sr.

Leroy Ballou Sr. was born February 18, 1933, in Elton, Louisiana. A resident of Sulphur, Louisiana most of his life and a long-time member of Knights of Peter Claver Council 108. He was a member of Saint Peter Claver Mission Catholic Chapel and later a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Sulphur, Louisiana.

Knight Leroy Ballou Sr. departed this life Sunday, February 8, 2026.

Cherishing his memory and celebrating his life are his children: Leroy Ballou Jr. (Angela), Cynthia Ballou Simien, Ray Ballou (Beverly), Ronald Ballou, Peggy Ballou (Bill), Patricia Ballou Matthews (Kenneth), Benjamin Ballou and Christopher Ballou; his siblings: Loretha Ballou Pitts, Mary Nell Toussiant (Layman), Wilson Ballou (Emily), Retha Payne (Walter Jr.), Ethel Crawford, and Harvey Pullard Sr. (Diane); his ex-wife: Norma Sonier; many many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, several in-laws, nieces, nephews, Godchildren, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Benjamin Harrison Ballou Sr., Dolvina Ardoin Ballou, and John Pullard Sr.; his daughter: Sheila Ballou; his siblings: Benjamin Harrison Jr., Lorena Ballou McMahon, Willie Mae Ballou Spikes, Barbara Gail Pullard, Cecelia Pullard, Charles Pullard Sr., Etta Pullard Gray, Howard Pullard Sr., Hura Lee Pullard, Joan Eva Pullard LeBlanc, John Pullard Jr; his long-time partner: Betty Matthews; several grandchildren and other relatives.

A Rosary for Knight Leroy will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Sulphur, Louisiana beginning at 9:15 am. Visitation will follow the Rosary at 10:00 am, with a Funeral Mass at the church beginning at 12:00 pm. Father Hunter LaRocca will officiate. The church is located at 1109 Cypress Street, Sulphur, Louisiana 70663. Burial will be at Perkins Cemetery in Westlake, Louisiana.
