

She was a native of Youngsville and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last 60 years, coming from Kaplan. Marilyn was a member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur where she served on various committees, was active in the worship choir, and also the Agin' Cajuns Choir. She enjoyed playing cards for fun with friends from the church, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Doisey Gene Darby; her sons, Philip Darby and wife, Mindy, Patrick Darby and wife, Joelle, and Troy Darby and wife, Rochelle, all of Sulphur; her siblings, Edward Hebert of Abbeville, Emily Darby and husband, Curtis of Pearland, Texas, Gladys Hogue of Kaplan, and Paul Hebert of Sulphur; eight grandchildren, Desiree Politz and husband, Clay of Lake Charles, Delaina Guthrie and husband, Heath of Sulphur, Danielle Darby of New Orleans, Christian Darby, Brandon Darby, Cameron Darby, Kaitlyn Darby, and Kathryne Darby, all of Sulphur; and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Saul Hebert and Alzina Hebert Racca; brothers, Harold Hebert, Jimmy Hebert, and Leo Hebert.
A Celebration of Marilyn's Life will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 22, at First Baptist Church of Sulphur. Dr. David Holder and Rev. Michael Linton will officiate. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Nunez Cemetery in Kaplan under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5-8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday in the church.
