

Mary Aliene McMillin Trahan was born March 2, 1935, in Harrisonburg, La., the 6th of 11 children of Perry and Daisy McMillin. She passed away peacefully in her home Easter morning, Sunday, April 20, 2014.
Mary loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren by whom she was affectionately known as “Gran.” She was an avid LSU fan and loyal supporter. She enjoyed baking, pokeno and ceramics.
She was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church serving in the Caring Ministries. She loved her church and church family. She graduated from Sulphur High School in 1954 and was employed by the United Gas for a number of years.
Visitation for friends will begin on Tuesday, the 22, from 5-8 p.m. at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home with a Scripture service at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday the 23, at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church with the Very Rev. Aubrey V. Guilbeau officiating. Interment will follow in the Richardson Cemetery, her family’s cemetery, in Jena, La.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Harry L. Trahan; and children, Matt Trahan and wife Kathy, Sherri Andrepont and husband Joe, Scott Trahan and Patrick Trahan; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren with another two due in the fall. She also leaves two sisters, Carolyn (Gene) O’Quain, Elva (Larry) Vance; and one brother, Murphy (Mary Ann) McMillin; numerous other family members, and a host of friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters.
Pallbearers are Phillip Andrepont, Joe Andrepont, Derrick Berry, Doug Reed, Larry Vance and Lionel Vandergriff Jr.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Immaculate Conception Church Choir.
