Neldia Boudreaux Blanchette, 98, of Sulphur, Louisiana passed away peacefully and suddenly in the comfort of her home on Friday, January 2, 2026. She was born to her late parents, George and Altia Boudreaux on November 14, 1927 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She grew up in Vinton, Louisiana where she graduated Valedictorian in 1945 from Vinton High School. Neldia had lived in Sulphur for the last 74 years. Her life was defined by faith, family, kindness, and service to others.
A lifelong and devoted Catholic, Neldia was a proud and active member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Sulphur. Her deep faith guided her in all that she did, from her leadership as past president of the Altar Society to her dedicated service as a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Through these roles, she touched countless lives, offering compassion, wisdom, and a welcoming smile to all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Marlene Blanchette Ivey of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Dr. Gary Blanchette of Sulphur, Louisiana, Ronnie Blanchette of Sulphur, Louisiana, and Paula Blanchette Lundy (Mike) of Blanco, Texas; along with seven grandchildren, Damon Ivey, Ashley Ivey-Atkins (Christopher), David Frith, Ryan Blanchette, Kacie Fountain (Jake), Shelby Guilbeaux (Kevin), and Sydnie Lundy; eight great grandchildren, Kyleigh Atkins, Bryce Bujol (Mikera), Kaelyn Atkins, Layla Ivey, Mason Meche, Hudson Guilbeaux, Quinn Guilbeaux, and Isla Guilbeaux; along with her sister-in-law, Liz Boudreaux.
Neldia is preceded in death by her husband, Waldo Blanchette; her parents; two daughters, Waldia Gayle Blanchette and Joye Blanchette Frith; along with two siblings, Josephine "Annie" Boudreaux and Andrus Boudreaux.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Sulphur, Louisiana on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 11:00 am with the Very Reverend Edward Richard, M.S., V.F. officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home in Sulphur, Louisiana on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Rosary at 6:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Wednesday at the funeral home from
9:00 am until the procession to the church. Burial will be at Mimosa Pines South Cemetery in Carlyss, Louisiana.
Those who met Neldia will remember her gentle presence and kindness. She embodied warmth and understanding, with a serene strength that inspired those around her. Her legacy is one of faith in action-living each day with grace, humility, and love. Neldia's unwavering faith, wit, and gentle spirit remain a blessing to all who were fortunate to know her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved.
