She was a native of Carencro and had been a resident of Sulphur since 1962. Nola attended Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church. She was the youngest of eleven children, born to Numa and Marguerite Guilbeau. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and crocheting.
Survivors include her children, Frank Gilbert, Jr., Robert Gilbert and wife, Bobbie, Douglas Gilbert and wife, Marlene, and Marguerite Busby and husband, Tony; her grandchildren, Laken Royer (Michael), Lyndsay Wolbrink (Matt), Ryan Gilbert, Taylor Gilbert, Sara Gilbert, Macie Gilbert (Garrett Powell), Clinton Busby, and Cody Busby; and great-grandchildren, Caleigh Royer, Kahle Miller, Dempsey Royer, Garrett Wolbrink, Pierce Busby, Dani Kate Busby, Weston Busby, and Atlee Busby. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Gilbert, Sr.; her parents; and her ten siblings.
Her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 13, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Ron Foshage, M.S. will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home. The family would like to give special thanks to Heart of Hospice and also to her caretakers: Shon, Joyce, Desiree, and Nneka for the excellent care of Nola.
