Reba Dowies AndrePont

LAKE CHARLES – Reba Dowies AndrePont, age 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, surrounded by her adoring family. She was born on May 29, 1940 in Oakdale, LA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hugh AndrePont, grandsons, Kevin Davison and Garen Long, her father, Therrill (T.F.) Dowies, her mama, Rita Dowies, her mother, Retha Chaney Morris, and her grandparents, Floyd (F.E.) and Venita Dowies, and Charles and Callie Chaney.

Reba was a past member of ABWA who owned and operated Chaisson’s Grocery, worked at Southwest Daily News and spent nineteen years as a manager in the casino industry, retiring from Winner’s Choice/Cash Magic in 2013.

Reba was one of a kind. She loved John, her girls, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, her family and her friends with all of her being. She loved music--playing her piano and singing, watching live music, and dancing. She was always eager to host a crowd and cook their favorite foods.

Those left to cherish her memories are four daughters Ronda Davison and husband, Robert, of Houston, TX, Tonette “Toni” AndrePont and fiance, Chris Michie, of Lake Charles, Michelle “Mickie” AndrePont and partner, Darlene Sweatman, of Shreveport, LA, and Nicole AndrePont of Houston, TX; grandchildren Shannon Davison, Amanda Eshleman, Callie Moseley, Janese Davison, Travis Davison, Trey Short and Mikaela Williams; great-grandchildren Skie, Josh, Laylin and Aston; sibilings and in-laws Alan Dubroc (Virgie), Pat Reed (John), Barbara Young (Dwight), Venita Barton (Thomas), Sherrill Hernandez (C.J.), Audrey AndrePont Fontenot (Leander), Thelma AndrePont (Burt), Betty Sonnier (Joe), Albert AndrePont (Kathi), and Mark AndrePont; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 p.m on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Chapel. The family will celebrate her life with music and stories during this time. Visitation will resume at 2 p.m. on Sunday with memorial services to be held at 3 p.m. Pastor Roger Templeton will officiate. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
