

"Little Mitch" was a native of Southwest Louisiana before moving to the Sulphur area in 1948. He joined the Navy in 1944, and served in the South Pacific and Asia during WWII. He worked as a pipefitter, campus security officer, deputy sheriff, auto salesman, labor regulations administrator and local union business agent. He was loved by everyone he met, and will be missed greatly.
Survivors include his son, Richard Marvin Mitchell and Karen Dubois of Arlington, Texas; two grandsons, Marvin Todd Mitchell and wife, Stormy of Conroe, Texas, and Richard Jeremiah Mitchell of Mt. Vernon, MO; two great-grandsons, Silas and Justus Mitchell; two brothers, Forest Gene Mitchell and wife, Shirley of Shreveport, and James Henry Mitchell and wife, Anita of Sulphur, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Ruth Mitchell, great-grandson, Gideon Mitchell, parents, Marvin and Edna Mitchell, a brother, Roland Royce Mitchell, and a sister, Virginia Begnaud.
Visitation will begin Wednesday 5-8pm at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2015 in First Baptist Church of Sulphur. Rev. Andrew Buckley will officiate. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines South under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
