Roger Eugene Blackburn

He was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson Bayou. Roger enjoyed fishing, crabbing, crafts and woodworking, taking care of his dogs, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his mother, Margaret Young of Johnson Bayou; step-father, Ray Young of Texas; his sister, Lynn Griffith; his brothers, Phillip Young and wife, Charlene, Paul Young and wife, Trudy, and Mark Young and wife, April, all of Johnson Bayou; his Godchildren, Cheyenne Sandifer and Keylee Young, both of Johnson Bayou; special uncle, David Blackburn and wife, Marsha of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; and several aunts, nieces, and nephews.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 26, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Jack Gandy will officiate. Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. Friday, with a rosary at 7 p.m. and will continue from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home. Upon his wishes, Roger will be cremated following the funeral service. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Jody George, the staff of West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital, Southern Care Hospice, and Ms. Ruth and April with the Johnson Bayou Clinic for their excellent care of Roger through his illness.
