Boots lived in Sulphur since 1977, moving from Crowley. He was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. He was a veteran of both the US Army and the US Coast Guard. During his time in the Army he served in both Korea and in Vietnam. Boots was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He retired after 30 years from the Sulphur Fire Department as Assistant Fire Chief.
Survivors include his significant other Ruby Mae Kimball; children, Krista Schysm and her husband Steve of Longville, Roland Joseph Landry, Jr., of Sulphur, and Amanda Landry of Italy; brothers, Elwood Landry, Sr., and Malcolm Landry, Jr.; and 8 grandchildren.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lyons point. The Rev. Clint Trahan will officiate. Burial will be in Abshire Cemetery in Leleux under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday with a rosary at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
