

She was born on June 8, 1933, in Randolph County, Ala., to Charles Heaton and Clara Alice Brown Morman. Ruth moved to Sulphur with husband, Dale in 1955 and worked at two local banks in various positions; at Lakeside National Bank for 10 years and Calcasieu Marine Bank on Maplewood Drive and Ruth Street for 20 years. Ruth was an active member of Henning Memorial United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school, served on various committees and Women’s Mission groups, and sang in the church choir. More than anything else, Ruth loved being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking and baking for family and friends.
Ruth leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband of 61 years, Dale E. Collins; her children, Katherine C. Webb and husband Russell, Karen Leigh Shull and husband Derwin, and David M. Collins and wife Terry, all of Sulphur, and Charles D. Collins and wife Kimberly B. of Denton, Texas; her sister-in-laws that she loved as her own sisters, Frances Morman of Seabrook, Texas, and Nassie Morman of LaGrange, Ga.; nine grandchildren, Dustin W. Collins and wife Randi Leigh, James Collins and wife Elena, Christine Watzlavik and husband Blake, Kara Leigh Babaz and husband Randy, Ashley B. Collins, Jessica Ann Webb, Miles T. Collins, Cameron T. Shull and Jason Dale Webb and wife Heather; and seven great-grandchildren, Tatum, Beaux and Luke Webb, Naomi D. and Joseph B. Watzlavik, and Hartley J. and Grahm M. Collins, and one on the way, Brock Mason Babaz. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Stone Watzlavik; her parents; and her siblings.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 22, in Henning Memorial United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ellen Alston will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Friday in the church.
