Sylvia Gaudet

She was a native of Sulphur and was a longtime resident of Vinton before moving back to Sulphur in 1999. Sylvia was a member of Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church. She worked 34 years for the Calcasieu Parish School Board and 30 years for West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital as a Paramedic, in the Education Department as a teacher, and served as Regional Faculty Director. Sylvia's life passion was teaching young medical students.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Mickey Gaudet; her five children, Deborah Gaudet and partner, Debra Hebert, Lana G. Breaux and husband, Henry "Coon" Breaux, Craig Gaudet and wife, Tanya, Chris Gaudet and wife, Sue, and Kevin Gaudet and wife, Penny; her siblings, Eldridge "Ponk" Landry, Gloria Dyer-Lormand and husband, Donald, and Judy Goodner and husband, Bob; sister-in-law, Carol Landry; brother-in-law, Curtis Gaudet and wife, Betty; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dudley Landry Sr. and Viola Landry; brothers, Dudley Landry, Jr. and Richard "Doc" Landry; and a sister-in-law, Mona Rae Landry.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 3, in Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church. The Rev. Andrews Kollannoor, MS will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Thursday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and from 8 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital Foundation in Sylvia's memory.
