He was a native and lifelong resident of Sulphur. Tanja enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Bernice Dupre; one son, Tony Dupre and wife, Felicia; two daughters, Diane Watkins, and Connie Pettypool and husband, Clarence, all of Sulphur; three sisters, Dorise Watson and Lucille Cormier of Carlyss, and Joyce Domingue of Starks; two brothers, Willie O'Quain of Sulphur and Jesse Roy Dupre of Florida; eight grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tanza Dupre and Azalie Morrow;sisters, Lena O'Quain and Pearl Lanning.
His funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 14, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Nay Vickers officiated. Burial was in Niblett's Bluff Cemetery in Vinton. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday in the funeral home.
