She was a native of Sulphur and was a longtime resident of Carlyss. Trudy had a very strong faith and was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss where she had been a member of the Catholic Daughters and had made her Cursillo. She loved listening to music, singing, dancing, and visiting with family and friends. She was always available to listen to family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Herbert "Herb" Durkes of Carlyss; her children, Jill Boudreaux of Sulphur, and Joshua Durkes of Baton Rouge; her siblings, Theresa Mallet of Lake Charles, Tim Dougherty and wife, Lydia of Carlyss, Mary Vincent and husband, Glen of Anacoco, and Brian Dougherty and wife, Allison of Sulphur; and five grandchildren, Kaille Downs, Madison Boudreaux, Lorin Hebert, Anthony Hebert, and Jude Hebert. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Gertrude Dougherty; her siblings, Jeanne Hughes and John Dougherty; and a nephew, Tommy Hughes.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 26, in St. Theresa Catholic Church. The Rev. Arvind Minz, HGN will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and from 9 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
