She was a native of Scott, Louisiana and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last 75 years. Verda was devout Catholic, being a charter member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister to the residents of Holly Hill Nursing Home, and had been a member of the Catholic Daughters for the last 45 years. She enjoyed cooking for her family, playing cards, crocheting, sewing, and was most famous with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren for her coffee milk and chocolate pies.
Survivors include her children, Judy Jenkins and husband, Thomas of Conroe, Texas, Donna Wyninger and husband, Steve of Sulphur, Tommy Prejean and wife, Paree of Fulshear, Texas, and Jeff Prejean and wife, Donna of Sulphur; nine grandchildren, Mikki Wyninger Giardina, Kristi Wyninger Christ, Lani Wyninger Prince, Mitchell Jenkins, Kristen Prejean DeLeon, Kayla Prejean Alidor, Klaire Prejean Hardey, Stephanie Prejean Whitaker, and Mandy Prejean Juranka; and twenty-five great-grandchildren, with two on the way. She is preceded in death by her husband, David "Brud" Prejean; her two brothers, Curman Begnaud and John "Bod" Begnaud; and two grandchildren, Matt Wyninger and Kellie Jenkins Whitley.
Due to COVID restrictions, the family has requested a private Mass of Christian Burial. The Rev. Michael Caraway officiated. Burial was held in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association (alt.alz.org/donate) or the Catholic Daughters of America (Court Our Lady of the Snows, 2700 Maplewood Drive, Sulphur, LA 70663).
